PUREARTH is an environmental information website based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. We aim to collect only the information needed for the purposes explained here. Privacy questions and requests are handled by PUREARTH at info@purearth.ca.
Your choices
Analytics is off until you select Accept analytics. Selecting Reject analytics, dismissing the banner or continuing to browse leaves it off. Articles, navigation and the contact form are available either way.
Select Cookie settings in any footer to change your choice. Your preference applies to this browser on this website address. We remember acceptance and rejection for the same 180-day period. Clearing browser storage, changing browsers or using a different website address can cause the banner to appear again.
Analytics stays off unless you accept it.
Change cookie settingsChanging your choice to reject stops future analytics collection, clears this site’s accessible analytics cookies and refreshes the page if the Google tag was already loaded. It does not automatically erase information previously received by a service provider. Contact us if you want to make a privacy request.
Optional Google Analytics
After you accept, Google Analytics 4 helps us understand visits to our main content pages, such as which guides are read and how people engage with them. It can process cookie identifiers, page views, interaction timing, browser and device information, and an approximate location. Analytics information should not be described as completely anonymous.
We use Google’s basic consent mode: the Google tag is blocked before acceptance and when analytics is rejected. Advertising storage, advertising user-data consent and ad-personalization consent stay denied. Our website configuration disables Google signals and advertising-personalization signals.
We exclude the About/contact page, article-search directory, this privacy page and the not-found page from analytics. Pages opened with a query string, local development previews and contact-form submissions are also excluded. Page addresses supplied by our integration omit query strings and fragments; referrer addresses are not supplied. We do not send your contact message or site-search text to Google Analytics.
Google’s own handling of information is explained in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Our cookie controls apply to analytics on PUREARTH; they do not control Google or FormSubmit pages that you visit separately.
Cookies and browser storage
| Item | Purpose and duration |
|---|---|
| purearth.privacy.v1 | Essential preference in local browser storage: your analytics choice, notice version, choice date and expiry. It contains no name or email address. The site treats it as expired after 180 days. |
| purearth_ga and purearth_ga_… | Optional Google Analytics cookies, created only after acceptance on a measured page. Our tag requests a maximum 180-day lifetime without renewal on each visit. They can expire or be removed sooner through browser settings or withdrawal. |
We do not use advertising cookies through this integration. Hosting platforms and the contact-form provider may use separate security cookies or technical logs to operate their services.
When you contact us
The contact form asks for your name, email address, subject and message. We use these details to respond to your enquiry and manage related correspondence. We do not add you to a marketing list through this form.
When you select Send message, your details are sent to FormSubmit for delivery to info@purearth.ca. Its delivery process may include Google reCAPTCHA to help prevent spam. FormSubmit and the email services involved process the message and associated delivery or security information.
Please include only what is relevant to your enquiry. Avoid sending medical records, financial details, passwords or other sensitive personal information. You can also contact us using your own email application.
Service providers and information outside Canada
We use providers to host the website, deliver email, process contact forms, prevent spam and, with your consent, provide analytics. The current review website is hosted through OpenAI Sites. A copy uploaded to GitHub Pages uses GitHub’s hosting services instead. Our configured form provider is FormSubmit and our optional analytics provider is Google.
These providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, requests, browser details or delivery records. Their infrastructure and subcontractors may be outside Ontario or Canada. Information processed in another country may be accessible to authorities under that country’s laws. We do not promise that all information remains in Canada.
We use submitted personal information for the purposes described here. We do not sell or rent contact messages or contact details. Disclosure may also be necessary to meet applicable legal obligations or protect the security of the website.
Retention, safeguards and privacy requests
We keep enquiry correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to respond, manage follow-up and meet applicable legal or record-keeping obligations. We review whether it is still needed. Delivery providers, email systems, backups and security logs can have separate retention schedules.
FormSubmit states that it retains form submissions for 30 days. Google Analytics retention depends on the property’s account settings; standard aggregated reports can remain available longer than user-level or event-level records. A browser cookie’s expiry is separate from information already stored by a provider.
We aim to restrict access to correspondence to people who need it for these purposes and use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information. No website, email system or security measure can guarantee complete protection.
To ask what personal information we hold about you, request access or correction, ask about deletion or raise a privacy concern, email info@purearth.ca with the subject Privacy request. We may need to verify your identity using information proportionate to the request. Requests are subject to applicable law and any legitimate retention restrictions.
You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada with a privacy concern.
Changes to this notice
We update the date above when this notice changes. If optional collection changes materially, we will ask for a new consent choice before enabling it. You can revisit this page and your cookie settings at any time.
